Norwegian A2 Level Courses for Upper Beginners

In this Norwegian course you will be following the book "På Vei". In the A2 level, you will cover the chapters from 9 to 16. All our Norwegian language courses include access to the digital version of the book and 24/7 access to På Vei e-learning platform.

Norwegian Course A2 – Elementary Level (Norskkurs A2 Grunnnivå) Build on your basic knowledge with our A2 Elementary Norwegian Course (norskkurs A2). This course is aimed at those who have completed A1 (or have equivalent beginner knowledge) and are eager to expand their ability to communicate in Norwegian about everyday activities and personal topics. In A2, you will broaden your vocabulary and learn to handle more complex sentences. Students will practice talking about their daily life, family, work, and past experiences in Norwegian. You’ll learn to describe events in present, past, and future tenses – for example, talking about last weekend or planning an upcoming trip – enabling you to engage in longer conversations with locals. Grammar lessons cover plural forms, common adjectives and comparisons, past tenses (preteritum), and sentence structure for questions and negations, giving you the tools to express yourself more freely. By the end of A2, you should be able to function independently in most everyday contexts, understand routine instructions and public announcements, and read/write simple paragraphs on familiar matters.

Why studying with Inlearn?

  • Approved Norwegian language school recognized by HK-Dir, UDI and Politi
  • Central location in Stortinget (Nedre Slottsgate 25, in Oslo center)
  • Small groups up to 12 people in classroom courses, allowing more attention from teacher and chances to interact and participate in the class
  • Included materials (e-book and e-learning platform)
  • Free workshops and events included in the course

Our A2 course uses interactive dialogues, role-plays, and real-life materials (like menus, simple news snippets) so you practice “living Norwegian.” It also prepares you for the A2 Norskprøve, should you need to certify at this level.

By completing A2, you reach the “basic user” stage of Norwegian – you can handle daily life in Norway more independently and are ready to tackle intermediate B1 content. This course is a great fit if you can already communicate at a basic level and want to speak Norwegian with more ease and detail.

You will learn how to:

    • Participate in everyday conversations on familiar topics (hobbies, your background, shopping, eating out) with improved fluency and confidence. You’ll be able to both ask and answer questions in Norwegian, and carry on a basic dialogue (NORSKKURS NIVÅ A1-A2 – Språkkafe – Find your local language cafe).
    • Talk about past and future events – for instance, tell a story about what you did yesterday, or discuss your plans for the weekend – using correct past tense (preteritum) and future expressions.
    • Expand your vocabulary to include common topics like weather, travel, work, family, and feelings. You’ll learn to express simple opinions, needs, and preferences in Norwegian.
    • Apply more Norwegian grammar: mastering the past tense of verbs, definite forms of nouns, adjective agreement (e.g. et stort hus, den store boka), and using connectors like “because” (fordi) to give reasons.
    • Improve listening comprehension – understanding Norwegian speakers in common scenarios (ordering food, simple phone conversations, small talk) when they speak at a moderate pace.
    • Write longer texts such as short letters or emails (e.g. describing your experience in Norway or inviting a friend to an event), with better sentence structure and coherence.
