Norwegian Course B1 – Intermediate Level (Norskkurs B1 Mellomnivå)
Reach the intermediate level (B1) and start speaking Norwegian with confidence and independence. Our B1 Norwegian Intermediate Course is tailored for those who have a solid foundation (completed A2) and want to become comfortable living, working, or studying in Norwegian.
At B1, you transition from basic exchanges to more substantive communication: you will learn to express opinions, share experiences, and handle unexpected situations in Norwegian. The course curriculum includes engaging discussions on Norwegian culture, society, and day-to-day topics (like work life, health, current events), helping you practice more complex sentences and expand your vocabulary significantly. We cover important grammar such as the past perfect tense, conditional phrases (e.g. “I would like to…”), and word order in main vs. subordinate clauses – critical for speaking and writing correctly. You’ll also work on reading comprehension using authentic texts (like simplified news articles or short stories) and practice writing coherent texts (for example, a letter of complaint or a story about a childhood memory).
By course end, you should be able to handle most situations that arise in a Norwegian-speaking environment – from chatting with colleagues to resolving issues at the bank – and connect sentences fluidly in speech.
Completing B1 means you can get by in Norwegian independently – a key milestone. In fact, B1 is the level often required for permanent residency (via Norskprøve B1). This course prepares you for the Norskprøve at B1 and even introduces some B2 elements to ease your path to the next level.
