Moving to a new country is an adventure, but learning the language can be one of the biggest challenges. When Carla moved to Norway in October 2024, she knew that mastering Norwegian would be key to feeling at home.
With a Norwegian boyfriend and five years together in Germany, she had already been exposed to the language. But now, she wanted to take the next step—understanding his family, integrating into the culture, and building a future in Norway.
Finding the Right School in Oslo
Oslo has many language schools, but choosing the right one can make all the difference. Carla’s boyfriend visited Inlearn and immediately felt it was the perfect place for her.
“The team was so kind, and the classrooms were small and personal. It didn’t feel overwhelming. He told me, ‘This is the place for you.’“
Carla had already self-studied A1, practicing with her boyfriend and friends. So, when she arrived in Norway, she jumped straight into the A2 intensive course—one of the first students in our new location at Stortinget.
Starting A2: The First Challenge
The first class was tough. The other students had already completed A1 together, and Carla felt a bit lost at first.
“It was overwhelming. The pace was fast, and I felt behind. But the small group size made a huge difference.”
At Inlearn, our intensive courses focus on personalized learning, and Carla immediately noticed the impact. But learning wasn’t just about studying—Carla also found a new social circle.
“You still have classmates to talk to, so it’s not just about studying alone. I made three close friends here. A language school is an amazing place to meet people and have a social life.”
Progressing to B1 & B2 – Small Groups, Big Impact
As Carla moved into B1 and B2, the group size got even smaller—just four students. The environment became even more personal, and the connection between students and teachers grew stronger.
“The teacher could see exactly where each student struggled and focused on those points. It felt more like a private lesson than a group class.”
“The staff was always checking in, making sure we had what we needed. It felt like a small community, not just a school.”
And the learning became even more practical.
“We didn’t just study grammar—we had real discussions about healthcare, society, and everyday life in Norway. It helped me so much outside the classroom.”
At this level, confidence in speaking became the focus.
“The teacher was so kind, and we got to know each other well. We supported each other, both socially and professionally.”
Leaving with More than Just a Certificate
After three months, Carla reached B2. But she gained more than just language skills.
She built a structured routine, felt more comfortable in Norway, and boosted her confidence.
“After coming to school every day for two months, it felt weird not coming. The 3-hour intensive course was perfect—long enough to learn a lot but not overwhelming.”
And most importantly, it helped her in her job search.
What’s Next for Carla?
Today, Carla is ready for her next step in Norway—stronger, more confident, and fully integrated into her new life.
